Social Media lecture type

The Social Media lecture type embeds your institution’s social network inside the content: instead of sending the participant away from the platform, the community shows up as one more lecture in the track, and they enter already signed in, with no need to log in again.

This lecture type is released by the Eduvem team, per institution. If it does not show up in the content editor, contact Eduvem support.

How it’s activated

Activation happens under Institution, on the Configuration tab, and is done by the Eduvem team:

1. Social Media lecture type - the switch that unlocks the lecture type for the whole institution.
2. Social network URL - the address of the community that will be embedded.

The URL is set once for the entire institution, not lecture by lecture. Every Social Media lecture, in any content, points to that same address - when it changes, just update it here.

Caution

The two fields go together. You cannot save the configuration with the lecture type turned on and the URL blank: the platform responds “Enter the social network URL, or disable the Social Media lecture type.” The address also needs to be an https link from an allowed community domain - otherwise the platform reports “Invalid URL.”

How to use it in content

With the feature released, Social Media starts appearing in the content editor’s lecture-type list:

1. Open the content in the editor and add a lecture to the module you want.
2. Choose the Social Media type.
3. Publish the content.

There’s no address to fill in on the lecture itself: it uses the URL configured for the institution.

What the participant sees

Arriving at that lecture inside the class, the participant sees the social network embedded right in the content’s own screen, already authenticated with the account they use on Eduvem. Navigating between lectures stays the same as any other lecture in the track.
