External content distribution

This feature is in the product, but it remains turned off for every institution while the billing step is not yet complete. Activation cannot be requested yet. This article exists for when the release happens.

External distribution lets an institution sell access to a piece of content to another organization, and lets that organization open the Class inside its own platform, without sending the participant to Eduvem.

For the learner, the experience is seamless: the person clicks the course on the platform they already use and the lecture opens right there.

How it works

1. The partner institution points to a launch address provided by Eduvem, providing who the participant is (their own identifier, name and email).
2. Eduvem recognizes the Class linked to that address and recognizes the person. The first time, it creates the matching record automatically.
3. The lecture opens embedded in the partner’s platform, without Eduvem’s navigation bar.

The participant does not log in to Eduvem and receives no password or email from the platform: the partner’s platform is the one that vouches for their identity.

What keeps working normally

• Progress and completion are recorded just like in any Enrollment.
• Certificate is issued under the same rules as the Class.
• Exams and assessments work with no difference.

What changes for that participant

• They do not take part in the chat of the Class and do not appear in the ranking. This is deliberate: each partner only sees its own people, and participants from different partners never see each other.
• They do not go through the terms-acceptance and complete-profile screens, because the commercial relationship is with the partner, not with the person.

How to activate

Release happens in two steps.

1. Eduvem releases the institution. External distribution is a commercial switch on the platform, not a self-service setting. An Eduvem administrator checks the “Allow external distribution?” field in the institution’s configuration. While it stays unchecked, nothing about external distribution shows up in the panel.

2. The producing institution manages its own deployments. Once released, the institution starts seeing an “External Distribution” tab when opening a piece of content, between “Classes” and “Reports”. The tab only exists for wizard-type content.

What a deployment is

A deployment is a launch point: a specific Class, tied to a specific partner, with a participant limit. Each partner gets its own.

Create

On the “External Distribution” tab, click “+ New Deployment” and fill in four fields:

• Name - an internal name to tell this deployment apart from the others. The buyer never sees it.
• Class - the Class this deployment enrolls participants into.
• Linked Origin - the address of the partner’s platform. Only that address can open that Class.
• Seat Limit - how many distinct participants this deployment can enroll in total. The field already comes filled with a real number, so no deployment goes without a limit by oversight.

There is no validity field at creation: the deployment lasts indefinitely, until it is revoked.

The launch key appears only once

When creation finishes, the platform shows the launch key in a window, and that is the only time it is shown. Eduvem keeps only its cryptographic digest: if the key is lost, there is no way to recover it and the deployment needs to be recreated. Copy the key before closing the window.

Download the package

Each deployment generates a .zip file in the SCORM standard, which the partner installs on its platform. Download it from the download button on the deployment’s row. This is the package that carries the launch address and the key.

Revoke

The revoke button ends the deployment immediately and permanently: sessions in progress are ended, the downloadable package is deleted, and the key stops working right away. This action cannot be undone.

The row stays visible in the list with the “Revoked” status, on purpose, so the history is not lost.

Content that cannot be distributed

A piece of content with slides of the type “Live Class” (with any provider), “Social Media” or “Assignment” cannot be distributed, and creating the deployment is refused with a message explaining why. The first two depend on resources that do not work inside another company’s platform; Assignment because grading is done by a tutor of the producing institution inside Eduvem’s own admin panel, which the buyer cannot reach.

To distribute content like that, remove those slides or point the deployment to another Class.

External participants on the Participants screen

Anyone who arrives through a partner’s platform becomes a participant of the producing institution, but does not show up by default on the Participants screen. This keeps the day-to-day list from mixing with partners’ people.

• Check the “Show external participants” option to include them in the list. Each one shows up with an “External” tag next to the name.
• Even with the option checked, they do not appear in participant-picker lists (enrolling in a Class, building a Group). They belong to the partner and are not managed manually by the producing institution.
