Online customization and issuance of certificates

Eduvem automatically issues completion certificates for approved participants. The administrator sets the certificate’s appearance once, and the platform takes care of issuance, with no manual steps on each completion.

Where the certificate is configured

The certificate configuration belongs to the content (and applies to the classes created from it). When editing a piece of content in the administration, you’ll find the certificate section, where you can:

• Choose the certificate’s model: Default (with a custom background image; the certificate text is part of the image itself) or Advanced (the platform writes the certificate text over the background image, which allows a reusable text template).
• Upload the background image with your institution’s artwork.
• Set the certificate text color, useful when the background image is dark and the default text becomes hard to read.
• Enable a second page, useful for the back of the document with syllabus content or additional information.
• Turn on Show Security Information, which prints on the document the data that lets anyone check the authenticity of the issued certificate.

Tip

Prepare the background image in A4 landscape size, with good resolution. Keep the central areas free: that’s where the platform writes the participant’s name, the content completed, and the date.

To get started faster, use the certificate template on Canva: it already comes with the correct size and settings. Apply your institution’s artwork, export the image, and upload it as the background image.

Caution

The institution also has a default certificate model (the Certificate type field on the institution’s Configuration tab, changed only by the Eduvem team). Changing that default replaces the certificate model of all existing content, including content you’ve already customized individually - only content using a reusable certificate template keeps its own model. Request that change with care, preferably before customizing certificates per content.

Certificate text color

If the chosen background image is dark, the certificate’s default text (participant name, date, main text, and the verification line) can become hard to read. After uploading the background image, use the Certificate Text Color field to choose a color in hexadecimal format (for example #FFFFFF for white) - a color picker next to the field makes the choice easier. Leave the field empty to keep the chosen template’s default color.

Use the preview button (eye icon, next to the background image) to check how the certificate will look before making it available to participants.

Configuration per class

Besides the template defined on the content, the platform can apply a different certificate for a specific class: useful when the same course is offered to different audiences (for example, an open class and a corporate class with the client’s logo). When this feature is enabled for your institution, the configuration made on the class takes precedence over the content’s.

Certificate configuration per class is a feature enabled per institution. If you need this behavior and don’t find the option, contact Eduvem support.

How the participant issues the certificate

1. The participant completes the content and meets the class’s approval criteria (progress and, when configured, the evaluation score).
2. The certificate becomes available to the participant directly on the platform, in the area of the completed content.
3. The document is generated as a PDF, ready for download and printing.

The administrator can also track completions and approvals through the institution’s reports.

ICP-Brasil digital signature (optional)

The Digitally sign certificates? option, in the institution’s configuration, makes every certificate issued by the institution get signed with the platform’s ICP-Brasil e-CNPJ certificate, in the PAdES-B-B standard. The signature can be checked at validar.iti.gov.br.

The option comes disabled by default and is only visible to and turned on by the Eduvem team - the institution administrator does not find it on their own configuration screen; to enable it, contact support.

Note

Opening the PDF in Adobe Reader may show an invalid-signature warning even though the signature is correct - Adobe only automatically trusts certificates from its own list (AATL), which is different from the one Eduvem uses. This does not mean the document was altered. The correct way to check it is at validar.iti.gov.br.

Caution

The signature attests that the platform issued the document as described. It does not attest that the participant actually completed the content - that proof continues to be the class’s completion record.

Common questions

Does the certificate apply to all classes of the content? Yes: by default, the template defined on the content applies to all classes of that content, except where there’s a specific class configuration.

Can I change the template after participants have already completed it? Yes. The change applies to certificates issued from the change onward.
